Ideas/Events/Concepts to focus your studies…

ü       Know the chain of events leading to the French and Indian War

ü       How did George Washington ignite this war?  and where?  (and where it happened – why did it happen here?  what had been going on?) … ask me in class if you don’t understand what I am asking here!

ü       Goal of the Albany Congress (1754)?  Problems of unity before?  Significance?

ü       Major campaigns of the French and Indian War – successes and failures; leaders; etc

ü       Mercantilism?  Salutary Neglect?  Why did salutary neglect need to end?  Why is the French and Indian War important for understanding the Revolutionary War?

ü       Proclamation of 1763

ü       Stamp Act?  Reaction to the Stamp Act?

ü       “No taxation without representation”  “Virtual Representation”

ü       Civic virtue as a result of the war?  What was the concept of the “republican mother” after the Revolution?  (notes; AMSCO-War and Society section; also in Kennedy Ch 8)
