• Kennedy, Chapter 4 pages 66-76 (including the “Makers of America” section)
• Document packet (will receive in class)

What to think about:

• How did the slave system begin (prior to the discovery of the Americas)?
• What were the first labor systems in the Americas (north and south) and why did slavery develop?
• How did Africans in America try to adapt to the new world?
• Understand how slavery was different in the three main regions of British North America
